Sound had a fairly low impact in early cinema as it was hard to actually recreate the sound so they exaggerated the visual aspect.

However modern cinema is completely the opposite as it uses sound in a lot of different ways from telling a story to make the viewer feel something. story telling can come from just speaking over the images and telli9ng the story to making the scene fell like it was right were the viewer is by recreating the sounds that would of happened in the real world. and you can make some one fell differently about a scene by the use of music as if you had very intense music they might feel that the scene was fast and worrying or if they put classical music to it they might think that it is romantic.
