After completing my experimentation I have made a questionnaire which will tell me what hair style/colour I should use, what colour background and what eyes, also if there should be any other options to the choices I have given.
After leaving the questionnaire for a few days and asking a few people specifically to get a wider range of ages and personalities including a couple of people from France and my friend from Japan to make it a very genuine and wide audience. I got a total of 19 responses which feels like a good amount. However, may be another 10 more or so would be good, but its hard to get people to give responses through Facebook and other social media.
The results came close to matching my opinions that I mentioned in my experimentation blog's, But, most of the results went with what had in second place for example, I wanted to use A for the eyes but the most popular in the questionnaire was B which was my back up so I will be following the responses and research by using B.
The responses also concluded that for the colour of the hair it was a fairly odd graph with A and B tying in first place so I am going to go with my gut feeling of what is better and I am going to use A for the colour of the hair.
Then for the hair style it became a tie between D and A, So again now its down to my opinion and as I stated in the experimentation blog, I am going to go with D as it maybe harder to draw but it is the easiest to make it look right unlike A which I struggle to make look good.
Then there are the different colour backgrounds, that give different feels to the scenes. Sunset was the over all winner of this question with the original background coming a close second. The green spirit colour didn't even make it on the chart so, that is out of the question and not going to be used at all.
In the experimentation blog about colour I said that I may use all of the different coloured backgrounds for different scenes, which I am going to do now to give the film a bit more variation in colour, plus, add a little colour grading and it could look quite good. I am not going to use the green (Spirit) background however, as it didn't even make the chart.
Finally the last question was would you add any more options to any of the questions? it a rather general or wide question so i didn't get direct answers for it but i did get a couple of decent suggestions by a couple of people, but a lot of people left it blank or said no which was ok as it was not a required question.
The suggestion to make the character most generic and unbiased to race is a very valid and good suggestion, but I feel that it would be hard to pull off as I am only going to have one character to draw and most of the people in my Taekwondo class are Caucasian/White British, including my friend. I could add more characters, but then that would require more time to make them look good an to draw/animate the scenes.
Then, there's the suggestion to maybe have a different style of nose. Now I have been thinking on this for a little while, and I cant come up with and better styles that fit the rest of the design, However, I will make the nose smaller on the final piece as that would make it stand out less and look better on the whole. similar to most animations.
